One complaint that most women have about menopause or the period of time that is leading up to menopause it’s the fact that their metabolism is slowing down to a crawl. It’s frustrating, but there is help for low metabolism during menopause.

As a result of changes that are going on inside of a woman’s body, including the reduction of key hormones that are being produced, it is not unusual for this to take place.  The unfortunate side effect of it is the fact that many women tend to gain weight during menopause that may not come off after their hormone levels have evened out.

If you are experiencing this problem in your own life, there are a few things that can be done which can help you to boost your metabolism and to lose any additional weight that you may have put on since your metabolism began to slow down.  Even if you’re not able to get your metabolism back up to the levels where it was before, there are also some things that can be done which will help you to maintain your weight during this difficult time.

If you have low metabolism during menopause, the first thing that you need to do, in many cases, is to change your diet.  This is especially true if you are eating a standard American diet which is full of a lot of fatty or sugary foods.

Shift toward a more raw and natural diet by adding these good foods into your diet regularly.  The more of these good food you add them, the less of a bad foods you’re going to eat.  This, in itself, can make a difference in your weight rather quickly.

Something else that you can do and it is really one of the main ways that you can boost your metabolism is to exercise regularly.  This can be done in a number of different ways, from walking or riding your bike to even lifting weights at the gym.

One of the most effective, however, is to do interval workouts where you will go hard for a period of time and then go easy for the same or perhaps a bit longer of a period of time.  Continue to cycle your way through your workout until you have reached 20 minutes to a half hour.  This will boost your metabolism considerably and keep it raised throughout the day.  Doing this in combination with getting the right types of foods will bring you back to where you need to be quickly.
